Form Entry Leads to Content Change without Indicating Change Occurred
Short Description
Subsequent options change as result of form entry, but no notification to assistive technology
Long Description
- A sighted user will often see content changes occur, but a blind or low vision user does not always have a way to know about the change.
- If a change occurs in a part of the screen outside where a screen magnifier user is focused, they might miss it.
- Sometimes a screen reader will not be aware of the change, meaning a user cannot interact with the new content until a refresh occurs.
- Depending on the kind of navigation a user employs, they might entirely skip over new content.
Example of Issue
Recommendations

- Learn more about appearing and disappearing content in the article Dynamic Content on the Accessibility and Usability site.
